What are the common models of thermal insulation aluminum coils?
In thermal insulation projects, thermal insulation aluminum coils (also known as aluminum coil insulation materials or aluminum skin thermal insulation outer protection) are mainly used for the outer protection of the thermal insulation layer of pipes, equipment, and containers. They have the functions of anti-corrosion, waterproofing, and aesthetics. The following are the commonly used models and their characteristics:
Common aluminum coil material models
Thermal insulation aluminum coils are usually made of pure aluminum or aluminum alloy. Common models include:
1.1060 (pure 1060 aluminum coil)
The aluminum content is ≥99.6%, with good corrosion resistance, high plasticity, easy processing, and low price. It is suitable for general thermal insulation outer protection.
Use: ordinary pipes, storage tank insulation outer skin.
2.1100 (pure 1100 aluminum coil)
The aluminum content is ≥99.0%, the performance is close to 1060, but it is slightly softer and the cost is lower.
Use: temporary insulation or low-cost projects.
3.3003 (3003 aluminum coil)
Adding manganese (Mn), the strength is about 20% higher than 1060, and the corrosion resistance and formability are excellent.
Application: Insulation of industrial equipment with slightly higher requirements, humid environment (such as chemical plants).
4.5052 (5052 aluminum coil)
Contains magnesium (Mg) and chromium (Cr), has high strength, is resistant to seawater and atmospheric corrosion, and is suitable for harsh environments.
Application: Marine engineering, high-temperature pipelines, and chemical equipment insulation.
Common thickness and specifications
1.Thickness:
Conventional insulation aluminum coil thickness: 0.3mm~1.0mm (most commonly 0.5mm, 0.6mm).
0.3~0.5mm: light pipelines, indoor equipment
0.6~1.0mm: outdoor large pipelines, high-temperature equipment, or occasions that require mechanical impact resistance.
2.Width: Standard coil width: 1000mm, 1200mm, 1500mm (strip width can be customized).
3.Surface treatment: Bare aluminum: no coating, natural oxide film rust prevention.
Coated aluminum coil: Polyester (PE) or fluorocarbon (PVDF) coating, enhanced weather resistance and color selection (such as white, silver).
Special purpose models
Embossed aluminum coil: Surface embossed patterns (such as orange peel pattern, diamond pattern) increase aesthetics and anti-slip properties, suitable for exposed insulation projects.
Composite aluminum coil: pre-compounded with insulation materials (such as rock wool, glass wool) to simplify the construction process.
Selection recommendations
1.Environmental factors: Ordinary environment (indoor/dry climate): 1060 or 3003. Corrosive environment (coastal, chemical industry zone): 5052 or coated aluminum coil.
2.Strength requirements: Need to resist wind pressure or mechanical collision: choose thicker (≥0.8mm) or 5052 material.
3.Cost control: Low-cost projects: 1100 or 1060 bare aluminum.
